Just rediscovered the “Downtown” tv series — these were a co-production of Action Figure, the Downtown Austin Alliance and KLRU. I really love these videos, but I can’t believe how dated they’ve already become! Especially the one about Rainey Street. The one I’ve embedded above is about Barton Springs. The two little old ladies are pretty classic.

Local Beer Joint Gives Back
The good folks over at Deep Eddy Cabaret are taking donations to help make sure that Santa shows up for a local family. Ess has six children, and with her husband serving in Afghanistan things have been pretty tight this year. You can check out the list of items they need here. Spartan & Bows+Arrows
One of the best things about living at The Bridges is having two of my favorite stores in Austin, Spartan and Bows+Arrows, literally right underneath me. Seriously, owners Currie Person and Lauren Wilkins have curated these places like little Museums of Cool. Last night I dropped in for their holiday shopping party and made out with a free whiskey drink plus a few treasures.
